- It is best to type up your artist's introduction in a text editing program such as Notepad, Text Edit or Word. Have this text file and a photo file of yourself in a location you can easily browse to (i.e. Desktop or Pictures folder).
- Log on to the site.
- Go to the Galleries menu at the top of the page.
- The submenu for Galleries will be on the right. Click on the Manage Gallery link. If you don't see this link you are not logged in or your gallery page has not been set up yet.
Adding Artist Statement and Profile Picture
-
You should see your gallery listed on the left, similar to the example below, with your name in place of ‘Your Name’ . Click on your name to access the artist introduction page.
- On the page that opens, scroll down to the Description box. Do not change or add content to any of the boxes before description.
-
Open your artist's introduction text file that you saved on your hard drive. Copy the text and come back to your artist's introduction page . Paste the text into the Description input box.
-
Some text editing programs will copy over formatting information that needs to be stripped out. To do this, select all the text you just pasted in and click on the icon in the toolbar that looks like an eraser. This will not delete your text.
-
If you do not have a photo of yourself to add, you can skip ahead to the last step of Saving your artist’s description in this section. Otherwise continue with the next step.
-
Add a space above your text by clicking in front of the text and hitting your Return key. Click inside the empty space so it places the cursor at the beginning of the empty line.
-
To add your photo, click on the icon that looks like a small photo in the toolbar on top of the text box (see below) to launch the Image Manager.
-
Under the File Browser section of the Image Manager you will see a list of folders. Click on the folder titled photos then the folder profiles indented below it. Click on the Upload icon above and to the right side of the File Browser section.
-
A window will open. You can open your windows explorer window that contains your image file and drag it on top of this window or Browse to your image on your hard drive.
-
Your photo file name will show up in the box. Click on the Upload button.
-
Check that the file name and preview are what you wanted. If it is:
-
Correct, click on the file name so it shows in the box labeled URL under Properties, and click on the Insert button below the photo.
-
Not correct, click on the X button to delete and click on the Upload button to select the correct file.
-
-
Now you should see your photo in the Description box. Check to see if your text is showing below your photo and not next to it. If the text is not below the photo, click in between your photo and the text and hit Return.
-
Click and drag to select your photo so it is highlighted as below.
-
Click on the Styles menu
-
Select Gallery: Artist’s Profile Photo.
Your description should look similar to the example below. If your photo is not on the right with text on the left, delete:
