Joy has had a lifetime love and interest in creating and interpreting nature and it's beauty as she sees it. Rich color and play of light and emotions are important to her interpretations through the use of the mediums of oil, waercolor, and pastel. Her inspirations often come from plein aire painting. She hopes to share and bring to the viewer this spirit of creativity.

Her artwork has received critical acclaim and numerous awards including: Best of Show, Omaha Artists, Associated Artists; First in category, Bellevue Artists Silver Palette Awards; Grumbacher Gold Medallion, 39th annual Association of Nebraska Art Clubs, 2003 Conference and Art Exhibition; Patron's Award, Phi Theta Kappa six-state competitive at McCook Junior College.

Joy's work has been shown in several local art galleries and private collections. She has also had her work judged into the following shows and organizations:

Joy Long received her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. After several years of teaching and raising two daughters, she returned to her love of art.

Joy has taken many art classes at the university level with many noted professors such as Kady Faulkner and Dwight Kirsch. She has also attended numerous workshops throughout the country with well known local and national artists such as Jessica Zemsky, Jack Hines, Ann Templeton, Doug Dawson, Donna Aldridge, and Jim Wilcox.
