Marylyn Felion

I am a native Californian who has spent most of my adult life in Omaha, Nebraska. I have loved to draw since I was a small child, and used this ability as a classroom teacher for many years.

In the early nineties I fell in love with watercolors, and I continue to explore the mysteries and potential of this lovely, elusive medium.   Always I am trying for a thing of beauty, a symbol of the awesome, transformative power of the Creative Spirit in our universe.

The Australian aboriginal people have a set of commandments, as we do, but their commandments have no “thou shalt nots.”   They have only “thou shalt.” And their first commandment (paraphrased) is, “Thou shalt be creative,” which, it seems to me, would make such a wonderful difference in our world today if more attention were paid to nurturing creativity rather than to the unending quest for money and power.

I remember the delight I felt when I first read the commandments of the Aboriginal people, and I continue to strive to share this gift of creativity with others, and to encourage others to nurture their many differing and individual creative gifts.
